Ballet 5:8 Artistic Director Julianna Rubio Slager and the Ballet 5:8 Board of Directors cordially invite you to save the date for our Benefit Dinner 2018: Times and Seasons.

Join us this September as we reflect on the impact of Ballet 5:8's mission, celebrate the beginning of our seventh performance season, and ensure Ballet 5:8’s financial needs are met for the coming year.

"At Ballet 5:8, I have the opportunity to tell stories that don't get told anywhere else. Ballet 5:8 tells stories of real emotions, real issues, real people; and we start conversations about them all. I love the athleticism of ballet, but the opportunity to share something with an audience is indescribable."

- Libby Dennen, Senior Apprentice with the Ballet 5:8 Professional Company

“Aesthetic experience, the perception of beauty, is valuable for its own sake and can also profoundly enrich our lives. Art can open our eyes to the beauties of the created order. A painting or a song or a poem can spark a flash of illumination. Art can even disclose spiritual truths and express them in a penetrating way.”

— Gene Edward Veith, Jr., State of the Arts

Ballet 5:8 Benefit Campaign

The Benefit Dinner is the kickoff event for our annual Benefit Campaign: as a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization, we rely on donated funding to cover a portion of our program and operating expenses.

Our Needs This Season Include:

Professional Company

Annual operating support to sustain the administrative, production and staff costs involved in creating original, accessible performances. The Ballet 5:8 company continues to be a forerunner in the Christian dance community: each year, we go into the public sphere, engaging thousands of people throughout Chicagoland and the nation in conversation of life and faith through innovative storytelling, breathtaking dance, and post-performance Q&A events.

Staff Support

Funding to create a new Managing Director position that is needed in order to sustain our programming and outreach, which is quickly outgrowing our current staff capacity. This position will allow the impact of Ballet 5:8's mission to be felt on a broader scale: in Chicago, across Illinois and beyond.

School of the Arts

Annual operating support to sustain the dance education programs, tuition scholarship fund, and performances at Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts. The school's programs make dance training at all levels of ability accessible to more than 250 students and families from 30+ area communities and all walks of life, in a uniquely nurturing environment. Our school is the only nationally recognized classical ballet school in the Chicago South Suburbs and the only faith-based pre-professional ballet training program in the Greater Chicago area.

New Building

This year, we are also asking for your special financial and volunteer support in order for us to move our main studios and offices in Frankfort, IL to a new building! This move will provide space to expand our dance education programs with new classes and diverse dance styles, a new all-abilities program for youth with special needs, an in-studio performance space to facilitate accessible performances in our community, and capacity to eventually increase the size and outreach of the professional company.
