Ballet 5:8's program The Stor(ies) of You and Me returns to the stage this spring in cities across the nation. One of the great things about a repertory program is the variety - both for the audience and the dancers! With five different works presented in Stor(ies), there is truly something for everyone watching. There is also quite the depth of experience available - the works represent a wide range of movement styles, emotion and stories told.

Q. How would you describe Before the Vows, in your own words?
A. Before the Vows is a light hearted, fun ballet and love story that just makes you smile. The story takes you on a stroll down memory lane.
Q. How does this pas de deux compare to any others you’ve danced before?
A. I feel like I can get caught in the story when I rehearse and perform it. It's a very real scenario. Boy meets girl, falling in love, and waiting for the question every woman waits to hear from the man she loves.
Q. What do you enjoy most about the work?
A. I enjoy the playfulness of the piece. My partner, Antonio, helps to keep things light hearted. The trust we have built is also helpful in telling the story.
Q. What is challenging?
A. The challenge with this ballet are a few of the lifts. They require the right timing, coordination, and strength to make them work. (On a more personal level, I have been through the whole dating process of falling in love but not having the ending I wanted. This stirs up some heart ache but in the end I am happier, stronger, hopeful, and patient in waiting for the man who will sweep me off my feet!).
Q. Why see Before the Vows?
A. Before the Vows will make you smile. It always makes me laugh and smile dancing it and I know that smiles and laughter are contagious!
