Beth Patterson: 2018/19 Season Reflections

Our Seventh Season has come to a close, and it's time to look back on the year and see what stood out to the dancers.

Beth Patterson

Q. Pick one word to describe this season overall. Why?

A. Grace. Through all the beautiful and difficult moments of this season, God has clearly shown His grace upon us.

Q. What was your favorite moment onstage?

A. Being back on stage after being out with an injury for some time and feeling the excitement and intensity of performing The Space in Between again. That ballet is very difficult and athletic, and it always feels like such an accomplishment when I get to perform it.

Q. Looking back, would you say that you learned something new about yourself or found yourself stretched out of your comfort zone?

A. Because of an ankle sprain, I wasn’t able to dance for some time during the spring season. This gave me time to watch and appreciate the beautiful company that I get to be a part of and to help Ballet 5:8 in different capacities beyond just dancing.

Q. Is there a particular quote or idea that has been inspirational to you this season?

A. “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.” – Rick Warren

Q. What are you up to this summer?

A. I am going to the Alonzo King Lines Ballet summer program in San Francisco and will be doing a yoga teacher training.
