Jessica Lohr: 2017/18 Season Reflections

Our Sixth Season has come to a close, and it's time to look back on the year and see what stood out to the dancers. Congrats to Jessica on her promotion to Company Artist for the 2018/19 Season!

Q. Pick one word to describe this season overall. Why?

A. I would pick the word "gratefulness." That is because gratefulness is truly the feeling that kept striking me throughout the season and what I am left with at the end. I am grateful for the many opportunities given, the lessons learned, the growth experienced, the people I am privileged to work with, and more than anything the faithfulness and grace of Jesus through all.

Q. What was your favorite moment onstage?

A. I had to think about this question for a while because there were so many. One moment that came to mind was from our Southwest tour. As we were performing one particular show it struck me how amazing it is that I get to do something I love everyday and I felt so joyful and thankful.

Q. Looking back, would you say that you learned something new about yourself or found yourself stretched out of your comfort zone?

A. I have definitely felt myself being stretched this year and feel that I have grown so much. As a dancer I have learned to push myself beyond my preconceived limits and that I am capable of doing more than I think is possible for me. Dancing is so fulfilling when approached with a humble and hungry, yet confident attitude.

Q. Is there a particular quote or idea that has been inspirational to you this season?

A. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." I am reminded that even when we feel that we do not have enough to offer Christ is unfailingly true to meet us with His goodness and strength and use us for His purposes.

Q. What are you up to this summer?

A. I will be traveling to Ireland and France to visit a friend! I am very excited to see some of the beauty Europe has offer. Aside from that I will be taking college classes, working, and dancing to prepare for next season.
