Kennedy Ditzhazy: 2018/19 Season Reflections

Our Seventh Season has come to a close, and it's time to look back on the year and see what stood out to the dancers. Congrats to Kennedy on her promotion to Senior Apprentice for the 2019/20 Season!

Q. Pick one word to describe this season overall. Why?

A. Transformative. Through the ups and downs, God’s transformed me through every single circumstance by growing me in virtue, friendship with my fellow company members, in my worthiness as a dancer, and most importantly, in my faith.

Q. What was your favorite moment onstage?

A. My favorite moment onstage was in a performance of Shades of Refrain where I could feel God’s presence shining down on me. Right then and there, I knew how loved and special I was in His eyes through the work I was putting in for His glory and for the audience.

Q. Looking back, would you say that you learned something new about yourself or found yourself stretched out of your comfort zone?

A. There were numerous times I was pushed outside my comfort zone in rehearsal this season. Even after rehearsal days when I felt I didn’t exactly hit the mark, I was still proud of myself for giving it my all. I learned that my “failures” during the rehearsal process were actually small successes in my book; for each one made me stronger physically and spiritually as a dancer.

Q. Is there a particular quote or idea that has been inspirational to you this season?

A. As simple as it is, “be still” has been a huge piece of inspiration for me throughout the season. Whether in rehearsal, class, or onstage, reciting this comforting passage from Scripture gave me peace and reassurance. The full verse is, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14)

Q. What are you up to this summer?

A. This summer, I’m planning on recharging my body and mind with a couple exciting spiritual retreats, yoga, family time, and strength-training. I’m eager for the 2019/20 season to start up!
