It is my pleasure to introduce Kristen, an apprentice with the company for the 2012-13 season. She comes to us after a time of study and performing at Belhaven University. We are quite excited that God is sending her to us in Chicago this year!
Where are you from?
I have traveled countless times to Chicago, but this will be my first year living in Chi-Town! I grew up in Holland, Michigan, but I recently spent a year in Jackson, Mississippi for my freshman year of college.
At what age did you begin dancing? What has kept you going until now?
I began dancing at age 11 at Turning Pointe School of Dance in Holland, and I can honestly say only the Lord has kept me dancing. Last year, as I transitioned into a new season of life, I attempted to leave dancing as part of my childhood. Instead, the Lord has only increased my passion and call to dance! I see dance as a beautiful art and as my tool to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
What part of the ministry of Ballet 5:8 are you most excited about?
I am looking forward to all the hard work it will take in the studio, and for the chances we will have to perform and minister to the people of Chicago. I cannot wait to build new relationships with the dancers of Ballet 5:8 and the people we minister to in the city!
