Christian Dance Educator’s Leadership Summit | June 25-27, 2020

Ballet 5:8’s Christian Dance Educators Leadership Summit is a three-day conference bringing together dance educators, administrators and leaders from across the country. At CDELS, you’ll spend a weekend building connections, gaining inspiration, and learning industry best practices from season directors in the field.

Past CDELS Featured Speakers include Ballet 5:8 Co-Founder/Artistic Director Julianna Rubio Slager, Ad Deum Founder/Artistic Director Randall Flinn, Colorado Ballet Society Founder/Artistic Director Patricia Hoffman, and Lara Faucher of Grand Rapids Ballet School and Grand Valley State University. Who Should Attend the Summit?

CDELS is open to anyone currently working in the field of dance education: this includes teachers, choreographers, directors, studio owners, administrators, business managers, even board members! CDELS is appropriate for those working with both small and large organizations, including both nonprofit and for-profit organizational formats, and all styles of dance. Are you passionate about dance education? Invested in building and maintaining a thriving dance studio business? Striving to maintain quality customer service and sound business practices? Interested in the best classroom strategies? Aspiring to set innovative choreography and put on engaging performances? CDELS features a mix of keynote sessions by featured speakers, and breakout sessions where you’ll get to choose your session out of a few different options based on your area of interest. The full schedule and breakout session pre-registration will be emailed to registrants closer to the date of the conference.

  • Thursday, June 25 | 7:00-9:30pm

  • Friday, June 26 | 8:30am-9:30pm

  • Saturday, June 27 | 8:30am-5:00pm

  • Early-Bird Registration:
    $300 through November 30

  • Standard Registration:
    $350 through April 30

  • Late Registration:
    $400 beginning May 1

  • Group Registration:
    $15 off each attendee for groups of three or more (applies to Standard and Late Registration only)


Is there a minimum age requirement to enter the event?
Attendees should be at least 16 years of age.

Where is CDELS held?
Ballet 5:8 studios in Orland Park, IL.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Shuttle service will be available between the event and recommended hotels. Free parking is also available.

How big is CDELS?
This is an intimate conference limited to just 60 attendees! You'll have the opportunity to talk with other participants as well as featured speakers between sessions and during meals.

What can I bring into the event?
Whatever you need! Attendees are encouraged to bring water, a notebook, and both casual and dance attire.

Are meals provided?
Yes, lunch and dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday are provided as part of your registration. We are able to accommodate many dietary restrictions including gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian (make sure to list your preference on your registration).

Is partial/single day registration available?
At this time only full event registration is available.

Do I need to be a Christian to attend?
No, everyone is welcome! Just know that the speakers will be approaching topics from a Christian viewpoint.

Is Ballet 5:8 affiliated with a particular Christian denomination?
No, Ballet 5:8 and CDELS are not affiliated with and do not endorse any particular Christian denomination.

Will I be expected to participate in times of prayer and worship?
This is not required - you are welcome to participate in whichever sessions you're comfortable with.

What's the refund policy?
Refund requests are accepted up to 30 days prior to the event.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, you'll check in upon arrival.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else or to another Ballet 5:8 event?
You can transfer your ticket to someone else if you are no longer able to attend, or transfer to another Ballet 5:8 event. There is a $10 transfer fee per transfer;  you will also be responsible to pay any difference in ticket cost at the time of the transfer. 

Will I receive a detailed schedule prior to the event?
Yes! Attendees will receive a detailed schedule via email prior to the event and will be able to pre-register for breakout sessions.
