We believe that innovative storytelling though the arts can lead to important, meaningful conversation of life and faith that can positively impact all of us. Working with Ballet 5:8 requires a great deal of dedication, passion and hard work, but it makes for a highly rewarding experience. Dancers and staff alike walk into Ballet 5:8 each day with not only a passion for the art of dance, but also with the excitement of a deeper purpose and a bigger vision for the work of the company. 

 Dancing Artist Positions

 Company Artist Positions

Ballet 5:8 Company Artists are contracted for 32 weeks each season, receive a weekly stipend, and attend class and rehearsals Monday-Friday in Ballet 5:8's 12,000 square foot facility in Orland Park, IL. Fall Season weekend performances typically run September through mid November, and Spring Season performance weekends mid-February through April. Dancers additionally have access to daily technique class, weekly Yoga, Strength Training, Athletico physical therapy, and chiropractic care for routine support. The work day during contracted weeks is typically 9:30am - 3:00pm. Company Artists perform with Ballet 5:8 up to 40 times each season around Chicago and across the U.S. on tour. Company Artists also have the opportunity to work with guest choreographers as they create new works commissioned for Ballet 5:8.

Second Company Positions

Ballet 5:8’s Second Company is a group of exceptional young artists affiliated with Ballet 5:8. Ten exclusive Second Company positions give talented artists with professional potential a company experience as a final stepping stone to joining Ballet 5:8 or other professional companies. The Ballet 5:8 Second Company is the next generation of dancing artists of faith. Second Company dancers pay a small amount of tuition and are also compensated with a modest stipend for any performances with the professional company.

Ballet Instructors

Looking for applicants capable of starting Summer 2023.
Ballet 5:8 is looking for skilled ballet instructors with Vaganova, ABT or CPYB training who want to train the next generation of artists to reach their fullest potential in a caring and nurturing environment.

  • Ballet Master of five or more years of teaching experience, who has weekday morning and afternoon availability with one to two evening shifts.

  • Ballet instructors with two or more years of teaching experience, skilled as working with children of all ages and levels of ability with evening availability. Instructors with knowledge of early childhood development and strong references are preferred.

Board Members

Do you believe the arts are essential to our everyday lives? Are you passionate about connecting others to a mission you believe in? Ballet 5:8’s Board of Directors is currently seeking to grow and expand to propel Ballet 5:8’s mission into the next chapter.


Advisory & Ambassador Council Members

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Ballet 5:8 depends on community support in order to accomplish its mission and remain accessible to its stakeholders. This backbone of community support includes donated funding, pro-bono consulting, and volunteerism. The Board of Directors formed the Advisory and Ambassador Councils, respectively, to assist in meeting Ballet 5:8’s growing needs as it serves increasing numbers of individuals in the Chicagoland area and across the nation through its special brand of dance performance and dance education services. Advisory Council members provide advice, perspective, and technical expertise on a range of specialized topics in which they have training and experience. Ambassador Council members may also provide consulting, but their focus is more broadly on supporting Ballet 5:8’s mission, operations and fundraising needs through volunteerism, advocacy, and networking.

Summer Only Positions

Costume Assistant Intern
Summer 2024 | June 19 - July 14, 2024

The Ballet 5:8 Costume Assistant Intern position is a unique opportunity for students majoring in fashion or costume design, and/or individuals with a solid foundation in basic sewing/clothing construction, to gain insight and practical experience in the many facets of creating and managing costuming for dance. The Ballet 5:8 Costume shop takes on a high quantity of work. Interns work closely with the Ballet 5:8 Head of Wardrobe gaining exposure in all operations from conception, patterning, construction, fittings, alterations, and repair. In addition, interns will get first-hand experience of how an arts organization operates within departments, gain skills in an array of construction traits/fine detail/craftsmanship, and specific needs unique to costuming the demands and movement of ballet costumes.


Arts Administrator Intern

June - August, 2024 and ongoing positions available

The Ballet 5:8 Arts Administrator internship is an opportunity for students majoring in arts management, nonprofit management, communications, business, dance, or related fields to gain insight and practical experience in the many administrative aspects of a multifaceted professional dance and ministry organization. Ballet 5:8’s operations are managed by a small team of active, multi-skilled individuals who work across many disciplines. This position includes opportunities to learn through hands-on experience in customer relations and communication, general administration, data management, payment processing, retail, event planning, and marketing.


Resident Assistant | Summer Intensive Housing

Applications for Summer 2024 accepted starting November 1, 2023.
For this summer we are looking for two women and one male to support our Summer Intensive students.

Summer Intensive Chaperones are responsible to oversee the safety, wellbeing and conduct of dancers staying in Ballet 5:8 Housing during the Summer Intensive, Choreographer’s Intensive, and Pas de Deux Intensive. Chaperones are also responsible to ensure that the dancers’ practical needs are met, such as food on weekends and laundry. Chaperones are responsible to plan and implement any weekend activities for the dancers, taking the dancers to church, and assisting in the event of any medical needs that may arise during the intensive.
