Q: Describe your experience during the creation and rehearsal process of Golden Sessions. What have been the most challenging and rewarding parts of learning this ballet?

A: In many ways being a part of creating “The Golden Sessions” has been an almost surreal experience. To be able to go in person to the studios and create a work of such beauty, while there’s so much chaos around us, is a strange juxtaposition that I gladly welcome. In terms of challenges, the choreography requires extreme precision in the movement, rhythms, and formations we move through.

Q: What is your favorite movement of Golden Sessions to dance and why? How would you describe the choreographic style of this movement?

A: Hard question, it may be cliche but I do truly love each piece and their unique motifs. “Eros” may just take the edge over the others, the music is amazing, [you] hear the interplay of strings and the crescendo of the timpani. The movement itself is quite classical, but still expressive. It all comes together to evoke emotions that many of us recognize from being in love.

Q: Why should audience members see Golden Sessions?

A: For me it all comes back to beauty in a time of chaos. Hurt, pain and cruelty are so common. We’re surrounded by darkness constantly, playing continuously in the news, movies, and TV shows. But to see something of true goodness is rare. Like a delicate lace it takes work to create and will captivate those who take in its glory.
