What parents are saying.

Families consistently share how Ballet 5:8 has helped their children grow in confidence, artistry, and joy.

I have seen our daughter increase in confidence, express her kind-hearted nature, and really dig in and start to work hard at becoming a better dancer.

My daughters LOVE Ballet 5:8 and their classes! I love how caring the teacher is, always willing to provide feedback and tips on things to work on at home, and how encouraging they are every week. After every class my three girls come out with huge smiles on their faces!

Both of my children take classes with Ballet 5:8. This organization has helped foster a passion for dance that will stick with the kids, not just be a part of a phase in their childhood. The instructors are friendly and compassionate.

Parent FAQ

Helpful answers for families considering ballet classes for young children.

Will my child be pushed too hard?

No. Our early childhood classes are developmentally appropriate and built around joyful movement, confidence, focus, coordination, and gentle guidance.

Can my child try a class before we commit?

Yes. Families are welcome to book a trial class before registering. A trial class gives your child a chance to meet the teacher, experience the class environment, and see if ballet feels like a good fit.

What should my child wear to their first class?

For a trial class, your child can wear comfortable clothing they can move in, along with socks. If your child registers, our team will help you purchase the correct leotard, tights, and ballet shoes at our store right inside the building.

Does my child need experience?

No. The Preparatory Program is beginner friendly. We help each child start at the right level based on age, readiness, and experience.

Is this a pre-professional track?

Not at this stage. The Preparatory Program introduces children to movement and ballet foundations. Families who later want more serious training can continue into advanced programs, but there is no pressure to choose that path early.

What if my child is shy or nervous?

That is very normal. Our teachers use warmth, routine, and encouragement to help children feel safe and comfortable over time.

Do students perform?

Yes, students may participate in age-appropriate performance opportunities. These experiences are designed to build confidence, joy, and community.

How do I know which class is right?

Start with your child’s age range, then contact the School of Ballet 5:8 team if you need help choosing the best fit. You can also call the office at 708.329.8773.
