Natalie Chinn

Ballet 5:8 Company Artist
Rehearsal Director

Natalie Chinn is a versatile and commanding Company Artist with Ballet 5:8, where she also serves as Company Rehearsal Director, helping shape the artistic integrity and cohesion of the ensemble. Known for her precision, clarity, and deeply expressive movement, Natalie had a breakout performance in Steve Rooks’ Wind and originated the role of The Child in Julianna Rubio Slager’s newest work, The Cave—a role that captured the innocence, vulnerability, and spiritual weight at the heart of the ballet.

Born and raised in Torrance, California, Natalie began her formal training at South Bay Ballet (now Ballet California) under the direction of Diane Lauridsen. During her time there, she performed solo and leading roles in a range of classical and contemporary works and had the opportunity to work with respected choreographers including Eva Stone, Robert Kelley, and Tiffany Billings. She also trained at premier summer intensives including American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, and Oklahoma City Ballet.

In 2020, Natalie joined Ballet 5:8’s Second Company during its inaugural season, where she performed in numerous works alongside the professional company. Early repertory included Four Seasons of the Soul, Golden Sessions, Interplay, Reckless, Shades of Refrain, The Mother, and Kevin Jenkins’ Still Waters. Her artistic maturity and leadership on and off stage earned her a promotion to Apprentice in 2022 and Company Artist in 2023.

Since then, Natalie has performed across a wide range of Ballet 5:8’s repertoire, bringing both dramatic weight and technical clarity to each role. As Rehearsal Director, she plays an integral role in upholding the company’s standard of excellence and nurturing a collaborative, artist-centered studio environment.

Natalie continues to be a cornerstone of Ballet 5:8’s creative and operational ecosystem—both as a dynamic performer and a trusted leader within the company.
