About the Instructor
Emma Michaux is the Assistant Director of the Conservatory & Trainee Programs at the School of Ballet 5:8 and a seasoned dance artist whose versatility and passion have shaped a vibrant professional career across classical and contemporary stages. Originally from Colorado, she trained at Colorado Ballet Society under Patricia Hoffman, where she built a strong foundation in classical technique and artistry.

Emma’s professional experience spans six years, including five seasons with Boulder Ballet and one season with Wonderbound. She has performed works by renowned choreographers such as Val Caniparoli, Christopher Wheeldon, Amy Seiwert, Michael Smuin, and Paul Taylor, and has premiered original roles in new works by Caili Quan, Amy Hall Garner, Sidra Bell, Gregory Dawson, Andrea Schermoly, and Makino Hayashi.

Her classical repertoire includes principal and featured roles such as Sugarplum Fairy and Clara in The Nutcracker, Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, the Black Swan pas de deux from Swan Lake, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the Diana and Acteon pas de deux. Emma has also appeared as a guest artist with Westchester Ballet Company, BalletNEXT, Zikr Dance Ensemble, and Thomas Dance Project.

In addition to her work as a performer, Emma is a dedicated educator with a deep love for mentoring young dancers. Since beginning her professional career in 2019, teaching has remained a central passion—one that allows her to share the joy and discipline of ballet while helping students discover their own unique artistry.
