Annabelle Lopez Ochoa is a Colombian-Belgian choreographer recognized internationally for her vivid theatricality, musical sensitivity, and distinctive fusion of contemporary and classical movement. A former dancer trained at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp, she performed with several European companies before devoting herself fully to choreography in 2003. Since then, Lopez Ochoa has created more than 100 works for leading dance companies around the world, with a repertory spanning short conceptual pieces, full-length narrative ballets, dance films, theatre, opera, and musical theatre. Her commissions include works for companies such as Dutch National Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, New York City Ballet, Ballet Hispánico, Scottish Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, and many others. Her acclaimed full-length ballet A Streetcar Named Desire, created for Scottish Ballet, received the Critics’ Circle National Dance Award for Best Classical Choreography and was nominated for an Olivier Award.
